Prison abolition is an utterly hopeless cause which will never achieve its avowed goal. It will suck a bunch of gullible kids into a guaranteed-burnout activist cult, and it might signal to the courts that they can get away with greater leniency for violent offenders, but the jails will stay open.

This post is incredibly telling about the people who reblog it. For a bunch of “radical” feminists, y'all have especially reactionary opinions on prisons. Refusing to envision a society that prioritizes compassion and transformative justice for victims and perpetrators. Instead, y'all readily accept prison, a notoriously violent (also racist and ableist) weapon of the state, as the only “solution” to the problem (regardless of how much violence and sexual violence is facilitated by prisons too!)

It’s almost as if behind y'all use radical terminology to dress up deeply reactionary ideas so you can pretend like you’re being progressive 🤔
